The Magic and Joy of Spanish Story and Play Time!

At Adventures in Spanish, our storytimes are dynamic and interactive! In this blog post, we will explore the powerful impact bilingual storytimes can have on children learning a new language and why our storytimes are the best!

We always begin with the Hola, Hola song and end with Adiós Amigos. We incorporate various songs and activities between each book involving hand play, gross motor activities, and mindful movement! We use bubbles, scarves, or even maracas, and add fun props such as puppets and animal stuffies to maintain attention and energy!

When deciding what books to read, we ensure they use simple language yet are exciting and fun! Elements in great storytime books may include repetition, rhymes, fabulous illustrations, great stories, and humor!

What are the benefits of our Spanish Story and Play Time?

Social Skills:

Besides being free and hosted in local small businesses and libraries, our storytimes are an excellent way for parents and caregivers to bond with their little ones and create lasting memories. Storytimes introduce children to the wonders of books and the magic of stories within. It’s also simply a great way to meet other children and families! Storytimes are a great reason to get out of the house and let someone else entertain your children in a fun and productive way!

Cognitive:

Reading and singing with children aids in developing early language and literacy skills. They provide an excellent way for children to improve their memory, focus, and attention span and expand their vocabulary. Stories and books foster a love of learning and spark curiosity about the world. We prioritize incorporating music because studies show that singing releases endorphins, which make us brighter, happier, and more creative!

Bilingual:

When we expose children to Spanish, they become familiar with the rhythm and cadence of simple Spanish words and phrases. This helps them develop an ear for learning and pronouncing Spanish words, expands their outlook, and helps them develop an appreciation for global diversity and cultural sensitivity.

The magic of our storytimes lies in our ability to teach empathy and humor and open doors to different cultures through books! That's why we created Spanish Story and Play Time! These special events unite us through laughter, movement, song, and play for babies, toddlers, kids, and their grownups! We invite you and your family to join us to experience the joy of our storytimes for yourself!
